Selecting Your Carpet The Right Way

Choosing a carpet is not as easy as it seems. This is not one of those situations where people say if you have money you can buy the best. The best might be the best in the market but not the best for you. When it comes to carpeting there are several things you need to keep in mind. Today, carpets are available in a wide variety of choices in style, fiber composition and color.

First of all you should know which room you are buying the carpet for. Every room requires a different design and a different material. Let’s start with the bedroom. The bedroom is usually clean and away from all sorts of eatables, making it less prone to stains. The bedroom requires a soft fluffy carpet which will give your toes extra softness. The living room is usually a crowded place and a lot of accidents and spills happen there. In this case you need high density hard wearing material. The dining room is a more likely place for liquid to spill than the living room. Wine or sauce can literally destroy a carpet unless it has been carefully chosen. Here again, choose the same material you chose for the living room. Last but not the least, comes the hall way or the stairs. They are not prone to any sort of stains so the only thing here to keep in mind is to make the noise low. For this it would be wise to choose a hard wearing short pile twist.

Now that you have chosen the material, it is time to select the color and patterns of the carpet. In the previous century the main consideration while choosing a carpet was the continuity of the color and design. However these days the trend has changed. Not only are carpets used for stairs and adjoining rooms different in color but patterned carpets and runners are being mixed and matched as well. Anyway, choosing the color and the style is the most important decision you will have to make about your room scheme. And it’s purely your own choice. Fortunately for you there are thousands of colors and designs available in the market. There is a facility to dye your favorite design in the color you want.

It is advised that you make a list of choices rather than choosing one. You should ask your spouse and kids to choose from the list you made, giving you a better idea and making your decision easier. There are a few carpet maintenance tips that can be helpful.

First of all clean the spills as soon as the accident happens. The sooner you act the less damage will be done. Secondly vacuum your carpet every week. This helps it stay dust free allowing the material to stay fresh longer. And the last thing recommended is to get your Prosource carpet washed every 3 or 4 months. This will ensure the safety of you and your family.
